Harbour View FC’s steady progress in the Under 21 League puts them back on top, while trying to sneak into the second End of Round Final, with a victory over Arnett Gardens FC!

A dip in form at the turn of the calendar year saw the double defending JFF/PLCA Champions, Harbour View FC lose it’s grip on a 7 point lead to refresh our form and storm back to the top of the League tables, now with 47 points.

BAD MONTH: Two consecutive uncharacteristically poor results against St. Catherine teams Portmore United (0-2) and Rivoli United (1-2) meant in addition to the early December (0-1) lost to St. George’s SC plus 2-2 draw against Waterhouse FC, the chasing pack had only Tivoli Gardens FC jump ahead of us momentarily.

As mid-January rolled around the form was corrected internally and Coach, Harold Thomas along with Andrew Hines and Ludlow Bernard had them back on track to challenge, and challenge they did. Tivoli at Tivoli on Friday the 15th produced fireworks as the Referee again stepped into the frey to upset the team focus, in sending of Centre Half, Robert Williams after 15 minutes for the most innocuous foul to leave HVFC a man short for a long time.

NEW YEAR, NEW ATTITUDES: Step-by-step, minutely they wore their opponents down in the process Jaron “JJ” Richards converted a penalty to lead by halftime, before the ever alert Ranique “BJ” Muir combined with Elton Thompson to counter-attack through the right channel to lure the custodian out of his domain to slot home late in the game and secure 3 more points to overtake Tivoli Gardens FC in the lead.

Throughout all this, the HVFC’s appeal against an illegal Player from the Rivoli United game was thrown out by the JFF Competitions Committee, as they acknowledged the error but admitted the JFF Rulebook did not make provisions for this breach, hence they cannot sanction the errant parties but will institute the relevant FIFA Rulings into next years booklet.

EFFORTS DOUBLED: The two next games that followed against Humble Lion FC in Clarendon, then Village United at home would signal the rejuvenated efforts of the lads as the focus has returned with clear indications signified by 4-0 victories accounted for by 7 varied players.

At Clarendon, scorers were Ranique Muir, Joel Nichols, Jaron Richards, Sheldon Foskins … Last Friday, Jaron Richards, Kimarlee Brissett, Fabian Campbell and Roniel Cole.
