cheque of $500,000 was handed over to KSAFA President ,Ambassador AB Stewart Stephenson by Mr. Michael Bernard, President of Shipping Association at the press conference to announce the sponsorship of the 2007/08 Shipping Industry of Jamaica /KSAFA Under 15 competition for the Winston Chung Fah Trophy .This was held in the Board Room of Shipping Association of Jamaica on Monday April 28.

According to KSAFA President, the sponsorship money has been budgeted as follows:

  • Prize money-$230,000
  • Referee fees- 225,000
  • Admin cost – 40,000
  • Trophies& awards- 15,000

The football legend Chung Fah was on hand to witness the sponsors’ endorsement as well as to share his experience and exhort discipline ,fair play and excellence to youngsters in attendance.

Some 24 teams were expected to participate over three zones and matches will be played on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays starting at 4pm.

Among the sponsor’s representatives at the press conference were:

  • Michael Bernard- President, Shipping Association
  • Charles Johnston-CEO, Jamaica Fruit and Shipping
  • Joseph Lowe- General Manager Maritime and Transport
  • Corah-Ann Robertson Sylvester-CEO Seaboard Jamaica Ltd.

 

The competition was kicked off by Jamaica Fruit and Shipping Charles Johnston at Harbour View mini-stadium on Saturday, May 3. Defending Champions Harbour View trounced Central Kingston 8-0. Damion Lowe, son of football legend Onandi Lowe, scored 4 goals.
