Fabian Taylor’s glancing header struck from a Oniel Smith left sided corner in the 25th minute before he returned in the 48th minute to weave his way past two defenders to slap his scorching left-footer on goal.

National Under 23 goalkeeper Dwayne Kerr was good enough to block but not save Kavin Bryan’s follow through from 7 yards that rifled into the roof of the net as he celebrated being the leagues leading goalscorer for all of 14 minutes before Irvino English scored to clinch the coveted “Golden Boots” prize with 18 goals, one more than Bryan’s 17 goal tally.

Fabian Taylor remained third on 15 goals as Reno’s Ricardo Scott ended fourth with 13 goals. In a game that was competitive from start to finish both teams fought gallantly to eek out a psychological victory in a seasonal series that recorded 2-1 at Harbour View then 1-2 at STETHS, followed by a 0-1 120th minute tie-breaker in the End of Second Round Final again at STETHS before the Reno teams challenge for the title faded badly in the Third Round.

The final frontier was set for a dramatic all-or-nothing title decider as the last stance fizzled to a “Grudge Match” only as the “Stars of the East” rapped up the title chase some three rounds ago and collected the trophy.

A massive “Curry Festival” at the Mannings High School just down the road robbed the game of a fitting audience but the match lived up to the top of the table billing announced that all but proved the class of both outfits, as both coaches echoed in the post game interviews.

The season ended, a long journey home was greeted with smiles of relief and joy of victory turns into relaxation before other engagements call. Congratulations all… you are worthy Champions!
