Scoring all three goals in the last two games, former team Captain, Lovel Palmer is enjoying another early season “Purple-Patch” as the he scored another match winner last evening at the Harbour View Home Stadium.

The League leaders grabbed the three point advantage to rush to 10 points, when the heavy downpours islandwide stopped three of the six afternoon games as the rains stayed away from the Compounds.

A below par first half saw HVFC’s spirited start not yielding a leading goal this time, then Rivoli United’s stout-hearted defensive stance blocked, bullied and sometimes frustrated the more adventurous “Stars of the East”.

Rivoli accounted well for themselves in that spell as shots from distance were well saved by goalkeeper, Dwayne Miller resulting in two corners which were eventually thwarted before Harbour View reconstructed attacks mainly through left wingback Lance Laing.

Showing improved team-play the boys from Spanish Town pushed there charges more into the battle-lines of the game up to halftime.

Remodeled by the newly selected TVJ’s “Coach for the Month of September” Waldemar De Oliviera, the “Stars of the East” shun brightest the longer the game grew as superior ball-movement eclipsed the stodgy defensive ploy of Rivoli, as shots had started falling like rain on the visitors goal with former HVFC custodian, Leighton Murray who stopped five spectacular attempts from Kavin Bryan, Dicoy Williams’ header, Freekicks from Jermaine Hue and Lance Laing before the shot of the game when Richard Edwards drove on target from 20 yards for Murray to parry magnificently for a corner.

Murray soon after fumbled, snatched and failed miserably when Palmer’s chip from the left-side of the penalty box eluded his grasp as he conceded the match winner, and for Palmer his fourth in the competition, making him joint leading goalscorer with Sporting Central Academy’s, Hughan Gray.

Next Sunday, HVFC travels to Reno FC in St. Elizabeth at 3:30pm.
