A game that was dogged down by numerous infringements in the midfield area which slowed the tempo to a crawl, reduced the entertainment factor and limited the on goal attempts to very few.
Harbour View summoned up just enough strength of character to “Pull-a-rabbit-out-of-the-hat” in minute 88, when the hardworking Lovel Palmer whittled away from two defenders enough to square inside the danger area from his favoured right flank, onto the head of Marcelino Blackburn.
His smashing downward deflection found its golden path as it bounced across the goal-line unmolested to ruffle the net at the death, breaking the hearts of Meadhaven who toiled all evening now in vain as Blackburn danced up a storm in front of his welcoming audience.
Christmas was in the air but only Harbour View supporters were enjoying it for the moment.
Three minutes of added time only added insult to injury as the “Stars of the East” rose triumphant above the competition to extend their League lead by 4 points over nearest challengers Tivoli Gardens FC.
Next game is away to Rivoli United on Sunday, December 28th, 2008.
