In an effort to improve the Club as a Teaching Institution of Life Skills through the vehicle of Football from an early age to maturity, we are exploring how best to utilise the best proven worldwide techniques and practices within our limitations in Jamaica at this time.

CONCEPT:

I had taken the decision about five weeks ago, to stop both the Saturday morning (First-Kick 7-11,
Masters Over 35 years) Recreational Programmes promising to restructure, develop and properly implement a new dimension to bring both groups closer in line with the perceived Harbour View Football Club (HVFC) Development Programme throughout the Club with attracting larger adult participation through the Masters League Mentorship, Players, Coaches, Parents,
Teachers, Community Groups, Schools and Sponsors.

The effort is to target 100 Children from ages 7-11 years with 70 Boys and 30 Girls, guided by about 20 Coaches daily. They would be sub-divided into five (5) age groups similar to Basic School Learning of below 7 years,8,9,10 and then 11 years old who then graduate to our Competition oriented Under 13 or in Schools and Recreational Contest even other Sports.

Targeting a Disciplined participatory Family approach will attract more Sports enthusiasts, lovers of the game generally and possible specific HVFC Club Supporters over time within the larger community of Kingston and St. Andrew.

TECHNICAL TEAM:

Our Technical Team has been very positive with National Female Coach, Vin Blaine starting to pull together the designed NSCAA(National Soccer Coaches Association of America Youth Academy) Manual being distributed to our six Coaches for reading and guidance. Head Coach, Donovan “DV” Hayles, Harold Thomas, Andrew Hines, Ludlow Bernard, Sydney McFarlane, Vincent Stubbs and myself are the core group that will further incorporate, train and lead the venture through regular meetings.

The Plan is to also get proven international Youth Academy Programmes from Netherlands, France, Canada and Britain to explore, compare and tweak in addition to bank on our own reality of experience over the last decade to eventually Jamaicanise in the long run. Written, DVD recorded and discussional analysis within by a new Data Collection Unit to be instituted hopefully by Parents and Masters acting as Managers.

Coaching Development of the “Youth Specific” approved teaching methods is paramount, hence Vin will instill his Jamaica Football Federation Football Academy experience to Coach our Coaches, Masters, Under 21 and Premier League Players, Parents and School Teachers in Harbour View constantly to upgrade the awareness necessary to develop over time.

Coaching Preparation Offers to HVFC:-

  • Already i have offers from American Coach, Paul Banta to stage a Level 1 Coaching Course at HVFC for all our Coaches and others interested in eastern Kingston and Jamaica to attend early in 2010.
  • Three (3) experienced Canadian FIFA Licensed Coaches lead by Jamaican Goalkeeper Coach, Gerald Pennant (who helped us while Touring in Canada four years ago and did a FREE Goalkeeper Course with us two years ago) have volunteered to come to Jamaica free of costs but expenses to Travel/Hotel only in December 2009.
  • Both has offered to send us DVD’s, Printed materials, Manuals, Online references and Books to assist the information resources…actually GSM’s Paul Banta has already sent about 6 emails of these yesterday and Baris Johnson his local associate will join us on Saturday morning to implement and frame the process…Gerald’s group would bring their supplies if and when they come to Jamaica in addition to contribution already bought/gained and committed from 2 former HVFC Players of Balls, Boots and Gears from Karl Grant and Junior Groves in Canada.
    – Tony James will give me this week a copy of the 114 page book, FIFA Approved “Grassroots Programme” for Youth Development Football just distributed worldwide at their Conference that ended last week…attended by JFF Technical Chairman, Howard McIntosh and planned to be encouraged locally soon.
  • Futsal or small sided “Street” games, in a small vacant square or space, i hope to encourage within the Community to generate the lost love of playing on our Harbour View Streets once again, as we all grew up doing with great success.
  • The responsibility passed back through the 12 Corner League Teams we redefined through the Masters Leadership two years ago, with an accent of starting with a new “Wall-Ball” where each Team identifies and decorate a HVFC/Sponsors Wall within their geographic zone to use as a Skills Training Centre to practice simply ball Passing, Kicking, Handling, Controlling and Juggling talents daily.

POSSIBLE SPONSORS:

Off course we need many Committed and Motivated Team Members to have any success over time, not just persons outlined above but Professional, Technical and Voluntary servants given all the necessary resources that we cannot provide or replace to make this possible hence some Sponsors were approached initially.
