Bouyed by a good start in the big Leagues with the first two drawn games, new comers Meadhaven United from KSAFA launched their season at the Constant Spring Complex for the first time after it’s approval from the JFF Competition’s Committee.

The 3:30 start in searing heat had Harbour View taking the early possession with a multitude of passes sprayed all around the park as the host held onto defensive positions looking to counter through Rohan Reid and Kemar Daley.

The skills of both teams were obvious and as the crowd built steadily throughout the first half, The Stars of the East accumulated twelve unanswered passes across the ground before Lance Laing swung a diagonal ball to Kavin Bryan on the right-side outside the penalty area, he fainted right and dipped back left to cross onto the penalty spot for Lovel Palmer’s glancing header to evade the motionless custodian to get the lead.

Ten minutes later, a neat Meadhaven United one-two around the box was deviated from the forward to Palmer whose intended clearance up-field but not before slapping the arm of the unfortunate Kevin Wooley, the Referee immediately pointed to the spot….Penalty!

Relaxed, the cool Kemar Daley stroked it home just before halftime to equalize, 1-1.

Harbour View quickly took control of the second half as the slant shifted meaningfully, Kavin Bryan missed the opportunity of the game on minute 53 when the attacking strategy opened gaps in the Meadhaven defensive organization with about seven passes Bryan was set free by strike partner Mitchily Waul around the six yards box but he skied the side-footer above the crossbar.

Waul would return to kick his opportunity wide from the opposite side of the penalty area, as Kelly, Hue and Bryan tried to pry open the game by scoring again but were unsuccessful.

Then in minute 84 another shot goalwards was deflected for a corner, taken short and played back up the field the left-footed square of right back, Lovel Palmer eluded the grasp of the faulty goalkeeper to drop inside the far post to snatch a victory while securing a double-strike for Palmer.

A valuable away victory puts HVFC on 7 points, after three games and the next game we return home on Sunday, September 28, 2008 October 3 against Rivoli United.
