The USL Franchise, The Charlotte Eagles opened their five game tour, Coaching Seminar and goodwill venture at the Harbour View Stadium on a losing note as the Premier League Champions scored an impressive 5-1 victory over the visitors.
Before the game started, HVFC’s Champion Coach, Donovan “DV” Hayles, exchanged pleasantries and gifts with Head Coach Mark Steffens, as DV gave him an autographed HVFC Adidas Replica Jersey signed by all the players and Coaching Staff, while receiving special books in return.
A hectic first thirty minutes then produced four goals, excited the supporters as HVFC opened the scoring after 5 minutes as Captain, Marcelino Blackburn picked out the head of overlapping central defender, Christopher Harvey to nod home.
Soon the valiant Eagles would draw even, as from a right-sided corner Desmion Tachie nodded home inside the near post in the 11th minute.
Blackburn was at it again on minute 24, as he delivered a free-kick, in the direction of Kemeel Wolfe to deflect to the far corner and give HVFC the lead once more.
Benefitting from the industry of Kemar Petrekin down the right touchline, minute 32 belonged to Marcelino Blackburn, as he rose majestically to head inside the far post, out of the reach of a stranded goalkeeper, Kern Cesear.
Halftime 3-1.
Substitutions a plenty were in evidence on both sides, as the Jamaican Champions dominated proceedings in this segment with a multitude of passes, interchanging, skills, flair and coordination to entertain the fans without scoring until substitute Jahmali Spence was brought down inside the penalty area after Kemar “Baggio” Lawrence had released him goalwards.
Spence got up to convert the penalty kick, awarded by Referee Carvel Banton on minute 78, to make it 4-1.
The spunk hit out of the visitors, John-Ross Edwards unleashed a 24 yard rocket at goal that custodian Cesear did well to parry, and Lawrence broke free but hit the side-netting.
Finally, substitute Fabian “Fame” Campbell stroked home a cross from the right in the 85th minute to close the game at 5-1.
Arm in arm, prayers were shared amongst both squads on pitch at the end of the game, as the two day FREE Youth Development Coaching Seminar follows on Friday and Saturday for 50 Coaches at HVFC with GSM and the Charlotte Eagles.
