No Goals today, was the cry from the spectators as they dribbled out of the stadium at Lynch Park in Portland.

The home teams once mighty fortress never really threatened the visitors from eastern Kingston to make them “shake in their boots”, actually the boys from Harbour View should have stolen all three points from their dominant second half display that opened up the defensive framework often enough to have scored a couple of goals.

The flurry of goalmouth activities at both ends of the field in the last ten minutes brought shouts around the park for a winner as both teams shared attacks, three for HVFC and two for STGSC, as both Clubs tried in vain to reproduce their previous games’ last minutes heroics without success.

The first half had the home team dominant in possession in their half of the field without penetration.

Mitchily Waul’s shot hit the side-netting from the right and came closest to scoring but the counter-attacking of Harbour View opened only a few gaps but faulty finishing had the shots from Kavin Bryan, Jermaine Hue and Lovel Palmer going high, while two free-kicks failed to hit the target from good positions by Hue and Lance Laing.

Later the double substitution around the hour mark added much zest to the attacking flavour as Kemeel Wolfe and Jomo Gordon spiced up the proceedings after replacing Kelly and Waul but no goals.

Kelly had found himself clear of the opponents defensive wall but had to wait on team-mate Waul to move but by then the defenders recovered to prevent the shot.

The prolonged possession had Bryan alone at the top of the area but he forced it high instead gently steering it wide of the stranded custodian in the 78th minute.

Central Defender Dicoy Williams won the header at the penalty spot from Hue’s corner but headed over the crossbar. He returned to score a similar header from Hue’s free-kick, only to have it recalled by the referee, as he had not signaled play.

Hue and Lovel Palmer again wasted free-kicks from close by the penalty area and Gordon’s attempt flew wide of the mark, the visitors called the tune but it never got the desired result despite last minutes bursts at both ends.
