Inches ahead on goal difference in Zone A of the 2006 CFU Caribbean Club Championship!.

Double strikes by Kavin Bryan and Rafiek Thomas lead the way.

GAME 1:

Centro Baber of Curacao again impress with a stylish 2-0 win over Aigle Noir of Haiti. A smooth Counter-attacking ploy paid off richly this evening as the slick moving attacking force lead by Edgard Cassiana Perez , Shoyrom Bermados and Oscar Molino Palomino shot into the lead when Perez tapped home a simply square after just 6 minutes into the far post.

When Central Defender, Miksing Caria earned himself an early shower after two bookable offences after 37 minutes it seemed Haitian Champions Aigle Noir would pounce immediately but this expectation never realised.

A series of non-productive passes across the field one way and then the next meant that the defensive network setup by Centro Baber had effectively worked to shut out the Haitians’ offensive.

When the smooth counter-attack repeated itself in minute 76 there was a crowd sentiment that gained unanimous acclaim “ We told you so…” as the crowd, resigned to accept Aigle Noir’s trepidation in attack. Captain, Shoyrom Bermados strolled the ball over the goal line as he disposed of a hurried custodian desperate to save face.

The fact of a 0-2 defeat, shook the mere foundation of  the Haitians to the core as they departed the tournament save for completing the fixture on 6pm Tuesday night against joint fourth place team Positive Vibes of US Virgin Islands for academic purposes only..

GAME 2::

The five minutes strike from the boot of Kavin Bryan to finish off a left-sided corner from Loxely Thomas cross ignited a spark in the team that had a mission to complete by getting into “pole-position” ahead of Curacao’s Centro Baber. After winning 2-0 for the second time Centro Baber now had six points and a 4-0 goal difference credited to them while leading the hosts Harbour View FC who only had a 1-0 goal advantage. The aim now was to score more than three unanswered goals!

Bryan’s goal was the catalyst to get the action started, as the “Stars of the East” turned up the tempo as Fabian Taylor lead from in-front when he hammered a spanking left footer in minute 23, from an acute angle to discourage the goalkeeper making any attempt to save it as it flashed by him to come to rest against the white nylon netting. Fabian would miss a simple 16 yards conversion that flew wide as he spun around just before the half ended. .

The second half was all about “taking care of business” and Bryan was first to score his second goal, from close-in after 51 minutes. Substitute Rafiek Thomas, came on in minute 56 and would immediately emerse himself into the game then ten minutes later to score before returning in the 80th minute to cop a fine double.

Substitutes Kemeel Woolfe and Kevin King failed to score but both made solid impressions on the later quarter of the game.

Tuesdays final game between both undefeated teams promises much as both winners climax in the afternoon’s proceedings at 8pm after both losers meet at 6pm.
