Converting a goal in each half, Waterhouse made the better use of their scoring opportunities to lift the coveted End of Second Round finals on Tuesday afternoon at the Anthony Spaulding Complex.
HVFC defeated Tivoli Gardens 2-1, to win the first.
Darren Mattocks, clipped a well served left-sided cross at his first touch into the far corner as the diving effort of goalkeeper, Carlloyd Walters got his fingertips on it but could not re-direct its intended path inside the goal after 32 minutes.
The entire run of the game was dominated by the smart ball handling skills of the Harbour View teamwork, orchestrated by midfielder, Romario Campbell, assisted by Fabian Campbell, Kimarlee Brissett, Kemar Lawrence while anchored by Robert Williams, Captain, Jaron Richards, Roniel Cole and new signee Oniel Fisher.
However the two strikers were not accurate inside the attacking areas and this proved the teams undoing in the final. The hard work of Elton Thompson and Marlon Abrahams did not convert to goal-scoring after doing efficient work that lacked finesse.
Twice the chances went wide, firstly as Abrahams broke free down the left after 24 minutes but elected to chip wide of the far post, as his two teammates stood unmarked in front of a gapping goal to his right. Then 16 minutes later Fisher ran handsomely into virtually the same space but his left-footer hit the outside of the near post side netting.
The second half started similarly with HVFC pulling all the game strings as the alert Waterhouse soaked up the pressure and counter-attacked professionally to hit were it mattered most.
This time in minute 49, a temporary lapse in communication between the custodian and central defenders, allowed the sharp response from Andre Clennon to intervene and nod home from 6 yards, as he slipped between both players to win the game.
The Leagues best defensive team giving up two goals for only the second time in 22 games, were rattled and as they came forward constantly until the last 3 minutes of time added the penetration was absent as Abrahams again missed from 8 yards.
Four forwards rested, including the 3 most lethal in Ranique Muir (9 goals), Donovan Edwards (7), Jeremy Lynch (5), with National strikers, Jahmali Spence injured and McCaully Tulloch to be introduced on Friday’s Third Round against Sporting Central Academy.
National playmaker, Andre Steele injured, along with resting Premier League starter John-Ross Edwards and team Captain, Lamar Hodges in Trinidad indicated that Coach, Harold Thomas has his eyes on the bigger League Championship to secure triple titles… HVFC leads by 5, on 50 points.
