A superb curling free-kick from about 21 yards from goal by Nicholi Findlayson was converted sweetly as the diving efforts of Dwayne Miller could not halt the missile hitting its target in the 43rd minute to put Reno in the valuable 1-0, leading position just before halftime.

Substitutes Rafiek Thomas and Marcelino Blackburn combined in the 78th minute to equalize for the “Stars of the East” at the Frome Sports Complex in Westmoreland on Sunday, as the heavy rains dominated play throughout making it less of a football spectacle than both teams would have liked.

Blackburn was first to the rebound after Thomases shot was blocked, he lifted it over the lunging goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area.

The triple substitution was completed by Kemeel Wolfe about minute 56, as the three attackers went to work immediately lead by Thomas down the right flank.

Thomas first shot at the goal but was denied by the left palm of the goalkeeper for a corner. He later penetrated the opponents quarters and slid a pass across the face of the goal only for Wolfe to be deceived by the puddle of water, stopping it before he could kick it over the goal-line to score.

His third effort was delayed by the save by the Reno custodian but Blackburn converted to gain the point, then pressed for the winner in the last ten but it was not meant to be as both teams shared the points.
