Lighting does strike the same place twice!

Oops, he did it again…Blackburn once again converts when it is needed most again from a simple combination with fellow substitute Rafiek Thomas, turning his man before delivering a fancy back-heel into the path of strike-partner, Blackburn who made no mistake from twelve yards to score.

It just seems like déjà vu, as the same combination last week made all the difference once more much to the delight of the traveling Harbour View delegation who cheered lustily, in celebration of the fine victory.

The 65th minute strike was well timed as the double substitution reaped maximum benefits giving the coaching staff a lot of satisfaction, by keeping the League leadership with 14 points from six games.

The “Red Brigade” were “red with envy” as they lost their perfect Home record and in the process tasted their first defeat this season to remain on 9 points.

Denzil Watson was as always a deceptive moving target upfront, with deft ball touches when in possession but his best chance came in the 38th minute when he barged a defender and benefited from the referees judgment but failed to snap the follow up shot with enough power to trouble goalkeeper Dwayne Miller.

He was replaced deep in the second half and with him went any real threat on the Harbour View goal, as the visitors waltzed around the Wilton Gardens “Rema” playfield with a number of undisturbed passes before trying to pierce the defensive wall with long range shots at goals that never added to the scoreline.

The first half was an intriguing game of “cat and mouse” as both teams probed dangerously around their opponents penalty areas taking four shots each at goal, all well handled by the goalkeepers, Dwayne Miller and Kirk Porter.

The LIVE Televised game was billed as the afternoon’s stellar game and both undefeated teams were motivated to play more so the highly expectant crowd keenly watched, while tense supporters volunteered there very descriptive remarks which were hurled around the grounds at the top of their voices.

There was dead quiet when Blackburn a neighbourhood hero from up the road at Arnett Gardens was fed by another local “Baller” Rafiek “Fari” Thomas from just down the road in Tivoli Gardens.

The home-town hero “Bob Marley’s (1-0) One Love” scoreline was not the result they envisioned on the eve of the National Heroes Day celebrations tomorrow, but such is life in football.

On Wednesday, HVFC returns home to play against Arnett Gardens FC at 7pm.
