The 7th Annual CPTSA Female Football Tournament was officially opened on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at the YASCO Sports Complex.

Addressing the teams were President of the CPTSA, Lucaso Brumant, representative of the main sponsors-Dettol, Mark Thomas, newly elected President of the ABFA, Everton (Batow) Gonzalves, and Director of Sports, Mervyn Richards.

In the first encounter, SAP and defending champions, Villa Lions, played to a nil all draw. Although Villa Lions outplayed SAP with some 21 shots on goal, mainly through Eta James and Quanise Colbourne, neither could find the net. SAP’s had only 2 attempts on goal.

It means that Villa Lions will remain the #1 seed of their zone, while SAP will try to get ahead when they face 5P’s on Wednesday evening, starting at 6:00 p.m.

In the second game, the visiting Harbour View Football Club of Jamaica put on a clinic for the Otos Tigres, hammering them 5 – Nil, all goals coming in the first half.

Otos Tigres custodian, Denesia King was left helpless as the Jamaicans stuck the net in the 6th, 8th, 10th, 16th, and a penalty in the 24th minute of the first half. Two assists came from Natasha Douglas and one from Shanique Mitchell.

However, the Otos Tigres girls re-grouped in the second half and were able to keep the Jamaicans at bay with better defensive play.

The Jamaicans had an overall 16 shots on goal, while Tigress only managed to get off one shot on the Jamaican’s goal by Toyann Bennett.

The 7th Annual CPTSA Female Football Tournament continues on Wednesday evening: 6:00p.m – 5P’s VS SAP, and at 7:30 p.m., CPTSA Wings play Harbour View Football Club of Jamaica.

The Tournament is sponsored by Dettol, Harney Motors, ANICOL, GIGI Industries & Oasis Water.
