Yesterday Principal Lawrence Wright of the Harbour View Primary School (HVPS) invited HVFC General Manager Clyde Jureidini to join the school’s staff to celebrate Reading Across Jamaica Day by volunteering his time to read to the students. Every year, the school celebrates this day by inviting role models from different disciplines of the society to carry out this important activity. The day started with general devotions before the visiting readers were escorted to different classes.
Led by Ms. Boothe and now-retired Mrs. Sharon Murray-Williams, other readers in attendance included community associates Pastor Morris and 4 ‘pretty aunties’, Ms. Sophia Lowe from Carib Cement Company, Mikisha Silvera representing Member of Parliament Juliet Holness, along with Mr. Kevin Archat of Food For The Poor organization.
Mr. Jureidini read ‘The Cow Called Boy’ to Mr. Reid’s Grade 6 class. Special thanks to the escorts – the cheerful Brownies group, reading associates in the class, the many HVFC FirstKick programme boys and girls at the institution, and ultimately Harbour View Primary School for inviting and having Mr. Jureidini for the day. It was a pleasure, see you next year!
