Brian ‘Rambo’ Brown is set to leave Harbour View Football Club (HVFC) next week on loan to Indy Eleven of Indiana in the United States of America.
Indy Eleven plays in the North American Soccer League (NASL).
Clyde Jureidini, HVFC general manager, says his club is in the process of finalising the deal and the player should leave by next week.
“We are finalising paperwork and obligation with Indy Eleven and the NASL. We want to keep him visible on the international scene,” Jureidini told The Gleaner yesterday.
The 22 year-old striker went on trial in Norway in January at Stabaek FC, but was unsuccessful. He was then invited to play in the NASL until August.
Brown plied his trade in the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the second half of last season with the Philadelphia Union. He scored two goals in five appearances, but an option to renew the contract was not taken up by the MLS club.
Since returning from Norway, Brown has been in training at Harbour View, but although eligible, has not represented the club in the current Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) season.
“We (Harbour View FC) kept him from playing locally in order to get him overseas again. All terms of the loan deal should be finalised by next week,” HVFC general manager added.
He was unable to give details of the deal.
Brown is a former Rusea’s High School football star. He won the Golden Boot award at Harbour View in the 2013-14 RSPL season. Brown, who also had a trial stint at English Premier League club Aston Villa in 2012, represented the Jamaica senior team once in 2013.
