BARITA has entered into a sponsorship programme with the Harbour View Football Club First-Kick Programme, with a goal of providing support in the development of life skills of children involved in sports.

The sponsorship, which will start this March, extends the corporate citizenry of Barita, which is usually known for its work through the Barita Education Foundation operating at the early childhood level in Jamaica.

Barita partnered with the Harbour View Football Club First-Kick Programme, as it views the holistic approach the club takes towards the development of its 5-12-year-old charges, as a good match for its efforts.

Not only is there an emphasis on their football skills, there is also a focus on the development of other life skills, such as discipline and work ethic, which are critical foundation skills.

The sponsorship, which will be for an amount of JA$350,000 in the first year, aims to further develop the life skills of the children by inculcating in them through their parents, the habit of saving and investing for their educational needs and as a means for achieving financial freedom.

As a member of the financial community, Barita believes that instilling values concerning the importance of saving from an early age is vital to addressing some of the challenges faced as a developing country.

Each quarter, the Harbour View Football Club First-Kick Programme members will be selected to be a part of The Barita Money Market Club based on punctuality and regular attendance, discipline, performance and parental support. As members of the Barita Money Market Club, they will receive additions to their accounts each quarter if they continue to be consistent in meeting the criteria.

Through the Barita Education Foundation, Barita has impacted on the literacy and numeracy skills of over 6,000 children at the early childhood level. The company brings the same level of commitment to the development of the Harbour View Football Club First-Kick Programme, and looks forward to its positive impact on the nation.

Founded in 1977 by Rita Humphries-Lewin, Barita Investments Limited has the distinction of being the oldest stock broking company in Jamaica. The company is licensed by the Financial Services Commission, is a member of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, and a Primary Dealer and Cambio Dealer for the Bank of Jamaica.
