The ban against Jermaine ‘Jerry’ Hue, also known as ‘the maestro’, was lifted this morning at the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF)’s office in keeping with the court order made on January 15, 2105.
Hue tested positive for a banned substance administered to him by the team’s doctor while on national duty and was banned from earning a living from football for 9 months by the World Governing Body of Football FIFA in 2013. The ban expired last year just before the semifinals of the national premier league, allowing him to make an appearance in Harbour View’s last two games of the season. He has since sued the JFF and the then team doctor for compensation, but was banned indefinitely by the local federation because of the law suit brought against it.
The quote received from his legal team is as follows:
“Earlier today, the ban imposed by the Jamaica Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee on Jermaine Hue was lifted in accordance with the Supreme Court made on January 15, 2015. Mr. Hue has, as result of the ban being lifted, agreed to withdraw his two existing claims in the Supreme Court against the Jamaica Football Federation but the issue regarding the Jamaica Football Federation’s liability for the administration of the prohibited substance by its team doctor will be referred to arbitration.”
