Lucky Dollar Furniture and Appliance Store will assist HVFC’s Jorginho James to participate in the 2015 CFU/MLS Caribbean Combine in St Kitts. HVFC thanks our official sponsor Lucky Dollar Furniture and Appliances Store in quickly responding to our urgent request to provide finances towards the airfare for our midfielder and Reggae Boy to participate in the one-time opportunity that will showcase his talent within the region.
Jorginho is a 21 year old midfielder who has played in our youth teams before establishing himself in our senior team. He played at Papine All Age School before his high school years in schoolboy football at Kingston College and then Wolmers Boys School. He made his senior international debut for Jamaica in 2012 at 17 years old as a 82nd minute substitute in a friendly match against Cuba, scoring five minutes later to win the game. The year after, Jorginho made his Under-20 debut in the Caribbean qualification round for the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup. Besides Harbour View in Jamaica, he has also played in leagues in the USA, Japan, and Antigua.
Caribbean Football Union (CFU) and the Major League Soccer (MLS) will be staging the third MLS Caribbean Combine from this Sunday December 13, 2015 to January 4, 2016 across three venues.
The Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA) through the JFF technical Committee selected four of its best players between the ages of 18 and 23 years for the St. Kitt leg of the staging which will be held from December 13-16, 2015. Players must be part of a club’s elite player programme and one of the national teams.
The following RSPL club players represent the final selection, which the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) would have communicated to the CFU:
- Jorginho James
- Amal Knight (UWI FC)
- Chevone Marsh (Cavalier SC)
- Ryan Miller (Cavalier SC)
Additionally, curriculum vitae for each player, provided the following personal information (i.e. name, date of birth, age, nationality, US Visa if applicable, etc.), and playing information (i.e. playing position/s, number of caps, height, weight, etc.). With the exception of airfare to St Kitts, expenses including but not limited to hotel accommodation, game and practice kits, ground transportation and meals for the selected players will be covered by the CFU.
The format for the MLS Caribbean Combine will include training sessions and games against local Clubs in St. Kitts. Players will complete in front of professional scouts for an opportunity to earn an invitation to the annual Adidas MLS Player Combine in South Florida for the period January 8-13, 2016.
We thank the staff of Lucky Dollar and urge other corporate sponsors to add to their fine example to create real opportunities for our young players internationally.
