A National Under 15 Boy’s squad departed Jamaica on Thursday, February 19 for Cayman to participate in the second staging of the Cayman International Youth Football Tournament(CIYFT).

Cayman-International-Flyer1In continuation of its policy to expose players to as much competitive football as possible, the Jamaica Football Federation accepted the invitation to participate in the tournament.

The tournament will feature Under 16 and Under 15 Cayman Athletic SC Select and Future SC Select teams. The fourth team is the defending 2014 CIYFT Champion Under 15 team from English League 1 outfit, Swindon Town Football Club. The four teams will compete on a round-robin basis.

Participation in the tournament will be excellent practice for players who could be part of Jamaica’s National Under 15 Squad which will take part in the CONCACAF Under 15 Championships also to take place in Cayman in August.

In this regard selections have come from players who participated in the National All Island Under 14 tournament held in 2014 as well as from parishes scouted recently by members of the coaching staff.  HVFC youth players Jeremy Verley, Renato Campbell, Horace Ramsay, Jabari Howell and Khalil Dabdoub have been selected to represent Jamaica in the captioned tournament.

The staff which includes head Coach Aaron Lawrence, Assistant, Lamar Morgan and Youth Coordinator Wendell Downswell recently held scouting sessions in the parishes of St. James, St Elizabeth and KSAFA (Kingston & St. Andrew Football Association).
