Waterhouse Football Club has acquired the services of former national senior men’s representative, Altimont ‘Freddy’ Butler, as a consultant to the football programme for a two-week period.
President of Waterhouse FC Ricardo Chin, confirmed Butler’s two-week contract which started yesterday and said that the club’s objective is to sell players to clubs overseas.
“He will look at what is happening at the club and properly prepare players for overseas contracts. At the end of his stay, Butler will make final recommendations to the club,” Chin told The Gleaner yesterday.
“Butler will start today (Thursday) until December 5. His main purpose is to add to the direction that the club is taking in properly preparing players for overseas contracts,” the club’s president emphasised.

Butler is a former Manning Cup schoolboy footballer. He represented Dunoon Technical High in the late 1980s. He played locally at Port Royal FC and Harbour View FC then went on to overseas clubs in Guadeloupe, United States Major League Soccer, France and Portugal.
He holds a United States Soccer Federation coaching certificate and also a European Football Federation coaching certificate. He has coached in the United States and Norway.
Meanwhile, Chris Paul will continue his role as physical trainer. He worked with the team during the CONCACAF Champions League and is back in that role.
“The physical trainer has been working with us (Waterhouse) to minimise injuries to players. This time last year, we had some serious injuries, and he is here to minimise injuries,” Chin pointed out.
Paul is a physical trainer who worked in the National Football League in the US.
On November 29, Butler and Paul will conduct a workshop at Waterhouse Stadium, Drewsland, involving coaches of schools and clubs within west St Andrew communities.
