Revenge is best served cold, Valentine’s Day will never be forgotten as HVFC displays no love at Waterhouse FC to burn all bridges!
A scintillating display of pure ball artistry, mixed with subtle tactical maneuvers and climaxed with exciting goals punctuating the fast moving top of the table fixture brought out the best of both teams but broke many “Firehouse” hearts, hopes and ambitions.
The title chase on in earnest as Waterhouse’s Coach, Geoffery Maxwell, announced “…this is a must win fixture” in their programme public pronouncements. It was not to be, as they encountered a resolute young brigade of warriors well equipped for the task at hand plus a mission to enforce their will upon the highly partisan crowd would had gathered for what was presumably “the wake”.
HVFC was the instigator at the start, stringing together numerous passes to make headway deep into the opponents territory as shot were fired at Richard McCallum’s goal, which were handled with assurance.
However, marksman Kevin Lamey came closest to scoring as he skillfully turned his enemy to snatch a snapshot on goal, only to see it deflected onto the post from the fingertips of goalkeeper, Dwayne Miller before being scrambled away to safety.
HVFC who replay sharply with deadly accuracy, when Jermaine Hue’s left-sided corner was headed on goal by Dicoy Williams rising high and beating everyone to the far post as the aware Rafiek Thomas tapped into an empty net to score on 19 minutes.
Waterhouse was in no mood to accept that strike and replied ten minutes later as Nicholi Findlayson overlapped to relay a neat pass to Vincent Earle, at the top of the penalty area, he swiveled slightly to curve the ball around the maze of players and into the goal to equalize expertly.
As time ticked by, the halftime grew closer as the vociferous homesters raised their voices to support the team in the lighter yellow and blue but the “True Blue” would appear in the heat of battle.
An unnecessary infringement committed on John-Ross Edwards by Roger Rodney would prove detrimental, as the resultant 22 yards freekick from Jermaine Hue, hit the back of the net with pinpoint accuracy at a ferocious pace as a desperate dive from McCallum proved futile as the unstoppable missile detonated on its target.
His hands raised in triumph, Hue was gobbled up by his teammates as the echoes rang out through the stadium in utter disbelief tinged with mass appreciation for a moment of excellence…a vintage stroke from the top drawer of the midfield maestro, long left in the archives of brilliance not often witnessed.
The exasperated referee, touted his whistle for the halftime as everyone exhaled for the fifteen minutes break in awe of the spectacular stunner.

Slowly, methodically the Donovan Hayles’s outfit set out to dictate terms and conditions on centre stage as a matrix of passes interwoven with darting dribbles from Romario Campbell and Kavin Bryan spiked the network of interchanges, laced with shots on target in search of a game winning insurance goal.
It never came but the intentions were clear as Waterhouse took stock of the pending threats set about trying to stave off the clear and present danger but alas to no avail as substitute Andre Fagan, benefitted from the frustration of Keniel Moodie’s ill-advised back pass to custodian McCallum to blast home in time added on to embarrass the home team as the no longer supporting patrons filed out of the ground cursing, mumbling and blaming their charges.
