An outstanding performance from the young “Stars of the East” piloted them back to the leadership position in the Under 21 League, as they trounced the Clarendon based Humble Lion team by 3-0 at the Compound to end the seasons home fixtures.
Goals from a direct free-kick by Romario “RumRum” Campbell, in the 13th minute followed by strikes from Ranique “BJ” Muir and Jaron “jj” Richards, etched an all important victory by the youngsters at a pivotal moment to snatch the lead.
Minister, Mike Henry, Anthony “Jah T” Pringle and Coach, Derval Stewart all in attendance a gallant effort was displayed by the Lions of Clarendon but they were “fighting above their weight Class” and the brittle chins could not bear the heavy punches it undertook and eventually they were out for the count, despite their best efforts.
The Harold Thomas, Coached boys were focused on the task of winning the remaining three games to defend their two years reign, atop the Under 21 League and extend it to a third.
The pressing pack of Tivoli Gardens FC and 5 time winners Portmore United , just 4 points of the pace were always in the shadows but the game most important to HVFC was the rescheduled fixture of Waterhouse FC versus Sporting Central Academy, in Clarendon. Fortunately the front-running pressure on Waterhouse took its toll, and they faultered to lose by 1-3 and in so doing relinquished the lead they held for just one week, as they slipped into third position 2 points of the leaders.
To compound the defeat, they also played with 2 ineligible players to eventually lose by 0-3.
Back in front at the right time HVFC must now win both games to retain the prized trophy for a third consecutive year
