Two days after the team was booed, cheers rang out at the Montego Bay Sports Complex as hosts Jamaica beat Antigua and Barbuda 3-0 to get their quest for a sixth CFU Caribbean Cup championships back on track.

Kemar Lawrence and Darren Mattocks, in the first half and captain Rodolph Austin late in the game scored for Jamaica.

Jamaica and Haiti, who will meet for the group title on Sunday, are tied on six points but the French-speaking team are marginally ahead on tie breaker, having scored one more goal.

In cool conditions, after a late afternoon shower, Kemar Lawrence, who was one of three changes to the starting team from Tuesday’s draw with Martinique, sent Jamaica ahead in the 30th minute.

He collected a muffed shot from an Austin free-kick and shot it past the Antigua goalkeeper from close range.

Mattocks made it 2-0 in the 43rd with a good finish from Dane Richards and the writing was on the wall.

Despite dominating possession in the second half, Jamaica’s lone success came from Austin with a header in the 87th minute.

The margin could have been much wider, but for a series of good saves from Antigua’s custodian Molvin James while Hughan Gray hit the apex of the cross bar and upright with a rocket.
