Hatricks by Kemar Petrekin and Marcellino Blackburn highlighted Harbour View’s 6-0 drubbing of Invaders FC.

PREMIER LEAGUE:

January at a first glance, did not reflect the image of high performance that ended the Christmas blitz that earned the “Stars of the East” two Championship titles both at home and within the Caribbean.

In a large windy domain Harbour View struggled to fight back the elements and establish themselves as league leaders as they battled away a stout-hearted attempt by Invaders to grab maximum points at home. The first half ended goalless as Invaders came closest twice with the advantage of the wind in their backs as only Christopher Harvey’s long range shot against the crossbar came close for the visitors.

The second half game improved slightly as Harbour View started the scoring in minute 52 when Luton Shelton stole the ball from a defender outside the area before calmly punishing the goalkeeper to take the lead.

After the game swung violently in the wind from end to end, Delroy Ellis equalised when he slipped through the defense and shot from distance straight into goalkeeper Leighton Murray’s stomach only to see the ball slip out and into the back of the net after 73 minutes.

Nicholas McCreath broke away twice, Conrad Hunt shot high from 14 yards, Harvey’s shot was saved and Jomo Gordon slipped before the shot went wide while at the other end twice players failed to make contact with crosses inside the penalty area late in the game.
