Harbour View FC and Humble Lion FC played to a pulsating 0-0 draw in their second-round Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) Monday night game at the Compound.

The point was valuable to both teams as the final result did little to damage the positions of either team on the RSPL standing. By way of the point gained, Humble Lion fortified their fourth-place positio on 20 points, while Harbour View held firm in their sixth-place after joining fifth-placed Tivoli Gardens on 18 points.

It was one of the better games played all season under lights involving Harbour View, who had created the better chances in the first half.

A hard-working John-Ross Edwards then passed up another clear chance midway the half, but was off target and he showed his disappointment.

Despite working to achieve a positive result, the chips did not fall the way of Harbour View and Humble Lion’s technical director Vassell Reynolds admitted afterwards that his team benefited from the final result.

“With this result, we consolidated our position on the RSPL standing in fourth place. One of the objectives we set was for us not to concede. In the first half, I thought we were a bit fortunate not to have conceded a goal as Harbour View created a number of good scoring chances,” he said.

After going unpunished in the first half, Humble Lion adopted a forceful and unrelenting defencive posture in the second half to keep a threatening Harbour View in check.

This approach, notwithstanding, never prevented the Harbour View battalion from getting behind the visitors’ defence line to unleash a volley of shots.

And when they did, those who were on target had their efforts dealt with capably by goalkeeper Kadeem Davis.

At the other end, Humble Lion threatened late in the match, but Harbour View were composed at the back and left nothing to chance.
