Harbour View striker McKauly Tulloch was a thankful man on Monday night, as he scored the winning goal in the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) football match against defending champions Montego Bay United and fired his team into second position.

The goal, which handed Harbour View a 1-0 win, put an end to Tulloch’s scoreless run and may just be what is required to kick-start a scoring run for him.

“It wasn’t my best performance, but I still have to give God thanks as I still got a goal, which is the main aim of the game. The team got a victory and that is what the team wanted.

“I still have to give God thanks for the goal. I could have done better, but I will do better in games to come,” said the former Kingston College and St George’s College representative, who scored in the 75th minute.

He added: “I have been getting chances the last couple of games and I have not been putting them away, so to score a goal, and the winning goal at that, should give me a lot of confidence. I must say it was a well-taken goal and a great pass from my teammate.

all-round performance

“I have three goals so far and a number of assists, so I would say it is an all-round performance from me.”

The win, which pushed Harbour View above previous leaders Cavalier on goal difference and three points behind Waterhouse (20), Tulloch said, should give them confidence to push on.

“This win gives us a lot for confidence going forward. As you know, we had a slow start and for the first five games we were, like, about two points, but we have been going on and the coach has been spurring us on and lifting our confidence.

“We can only get better going forward. We have been gelling,” he explained.

If they continue in this form, Tulloch sees nothing short of capturing the title.

“From a team perspective, we have set ourselves a target of winning. Nothing less than that would be acceptable, and if we continue like this then we will do it. Within a team concept you have individual goals as well, but I do not limit myself. I don’t put numbers on it,” added the player, who said that if he continues in this vein then he will be able to secure another move abroad through his agent Damani Ralph.
