Congratulations to our three U20 players Romario Williams, Akeil Barrett and Oneil Fisher, as well as fellow Jamaican Sergio Campbell, who have all been drafted by teams in Major League Soccer from the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.
From Round 1, former Kingston College and Jamaica U-17 international Romario Williams was signed by the Montreal Impact from the University of Central Florida as the number 3 draft pick. Williams is a robust box to box midfielder who played for Jamaica in the U-17 World Cup in 2011 in Mexico. The 20 year old is known for his long range shooting, creativity and dribbling ability.

Akeil Barrett of the University of Tulsa was selected by Orlando City Soccer Club with the 25th overall pick. Barrett, a Jamaican native and former Calabar High star scored 2 goals in 10 appearances at the Ohio school, and after his first season, he transferred from Akron to the University of Tulsa, where he blossomed as an attacking midfielder and eventually earned an invitation to the combine. He started 34 of 41 matches over the next two years for Tulsa. In his junior season, he scored seven goals and eight assists in 18 matches.
In the 40th pick of the 2nd round of the draft, Jamaican international Oneil Fisher was drafted by the Seattle Sounders and he will now join fellow Jamaican Damion Lowe at the Western Conference Team. On August 11, 2010, Fisher made his international debut for Jamaica in a 3-1 victory over Trinidad and Tobago. He also played for the under-20 national team in the 2011 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Guatemala. The 5’10 inch 23 year old utility player can play anywhere in the midfield or defence as he offers flexibility and mobility to the team.
Pick number 19 of the first round of the SuperDraft was Jamaican International Sergio Campbell. Campbell was drafted by the Columbus Crew from the University of Connecticut. The 6’3 inch 23 year old defender was a member of Jamaica’s winning Caribbean Cup team in 2010 and he is also the nephew of Jamaican skipper Rudolph Austin. Campbell is known for his heading ability, clean tackling and passing skill.
