Kemar Lawrence, also known as the ever speedy ‘Taxi’, plays as a left-sided defender specialising in the role of a wing-back. Reggae Boyz coach Winfried Schäfer describes Lawrence as a player with good pace and intelligence on the field, while stating his belief that he is a player with “a chance to play in Europe”. His impressive game has allowed him to be constantly called for and played in the national team’s most recent games.

‘Taxi’ was first selected for the Reggae Boyz for the CONCACAF Fourth Round qualifying match against Panama in Panama City in September 2013, and received his first cap in a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago in Montego Bay in November 2013. He has since appeared in all four matches of the Jamaica national team’s international tour in the summer of 2014, which saw them play fierce contenders such as 2014 FIFA World Cup-bound France and Switzerland, along with Serbia and Egypt. He has certainly demanded both local and international attention, especially since the set of matches from the team’s international tour, helping him to earn a trial earlier in this year at Major League Soccer (MLS) team, DC United.

He is expected to depart the island with the rest of the local Reggae Boyz squad tomorrow morning to play an international friendly game against Canada on September 9th at the BMO Stadium, home of Toronto FC.

Keep working hard ‘Taxi’, and even more rewards will follow!
