The Prison Oval erupted in the second minute of play when Patrick Beech’s shot was parried into the path of Denzil Hyatt who shot goalwards for Leeroy Grey to once again block but not totally as the pace of the kick rested in the back of the net. Beech raced across the turf in jubilation quickly followed by his teammates as the crowd roared the prison shook and the discotheque bellowed chants of victory through songs.
Rivoli had sounded its warning of a battle cry, the lines are drawn and first blood shed.
Harbour View never read the script and so onward and forward they strove ever looking dangerous always sniffing around they opponents goalmouth with a chilling accuracy in possession but not yet climaxing the final product, goal. Dino Williams first kicked over the bar from 12 yards, followed by Fabian Taylor’s header hit the upright then McCreath pulling wide from close in. The pressure mounted and the robust tackling of the central defenders only delayed the inevitable as the resultant free-kicks from Jermaine Hue never hit the target until minute 22 when he curved a trademark left-footer from 23 yards hit the ‘pigeon-hole’, 1-1.
Ten minutes later Hue again stormed the penalty area to square to Donald Stewart who hit one-time into the far corner through the legs of a defender as it went wide of the goalkeeper.
2-1 as the second half begun but everyone awaited the final rites to be fulfilled as Fabian Taylor was yet to score on his former home-ground, he is in good form, hungry and competent. He obliged when Dino Williams square was headed into the far post but as Donald Stewart guided it over the line the referee ruled he used his hand to assist him as Donald protested he only achieved a caution for his troubles. Fabian returned soon thereafter to turn his defender and then slip it towards the far side of the goal away from the goalkeeper to close out the score sheet 3-1 around the 72nd minute.
The end of the second round had come and Harbour View once again lead the League on 43 points, second is Tivoli Gardens 42, Portmore 41, Waterhouse 39, Village 38 and Rivoli 36 round out the top six clubs.
The third round begins on Sunday February 1st with two rounds of six clubs each playing 5 games at home and away.
HARBOUR VIEW TRASHES STAR COSMOS BY 3-0 TO TAKEOVER THE PREMIERSHIP LEAD.
Under 21 squad roars into the End of Second Round Finals with resounding 8-0 victory.
In a spirited performance at the Compound both junior and senior teams left homesters smiling as they danced and pranced around the disorganised Star Cosmos teams to takeover leadership positions in varied ways. Firstly leading the overall Premier League standings on 40 points, Leading the standings in the second round of the Under 21 with 17 points, then qualifying for those finals next Sunday, leading goalscorers in both divisions Fabian Taylor in the seniors with 17 goals and Kemar Petrekin in the juniors with 14 goals.
UNDER 21:
Early in the day a purposeful Under 21 unit went about their chores with a plumb lead by Kemar Petrekin (1Oth minute) followed by Akeem Priestley (12th minute) then Michily Waul (29th minute) that left Harbour View with a comfortable 3-0 lead at the halftime.
The second half of the second half was a perfect replica of the first with Petrekin followed by Priestley followed by Waul to raise the 6-0 target against the second round group leaders before the start of the game. The third replica was tarnished only by the missed chance of Petrekin as both Priestley then Waul completed their hatricks as the polished off a classy performance with late goals in minutes 86 and 89 respectively.

PREMIER LEAGUE:
Recently embarassed by come from behind losses the ‘Stars of the East’ still smarting came to the game in an assertive tone dominated from early on as missed opportunities amounting to seven went abegging due to hasty shooting, bad selections and a well positioned goalkeeping halted the start of scoring until minute 44 when Jermaine Hue curled a trademark free-kick around the wall and into the far upright from 21 yards out.
Before that Leeroy Grey had to dive full length to his right to make a two handed save low down to a well struck but poorly placed penalty conceded when Lovell Palmer handled the ball on its way goalward.
The second half heralded the beginning of the end for Star Cosmos as goalgetter Fabian Taylor started by finishing off two more constructive moves by newly found midfielder Nicholas McCreath, who shaken right then left before darting straight and centre to his created path goalwards where he unleahesd a thunderous right-footer which was blocked but fell into the path of Taylor who struck with venom to score. This was followed by McCreath next stellar move to pass to Taylor and the later to oblige inside the far post in minute 75. The fat lady had sung as Jermaine Hue turned on the thrills with combinations with McCreath and Donald ‘Fouly’ Stewart to ease the tension towards the end.
Fabian Taylor was voted ‘Player of the Month’ for the month of December again after achieving the status in September 2003, Congratulations Fabian!!
