Premier League:

The 3pm start time for the final game in the first Round was a hindrance for the working class fans but only temporarily halted the Harbour View team from hitting high gear early on.

Jomo Gordon a former Harbour View striker latched onto a crafty chipped pass from strike partner Kevin Lamey and volleyed beautifully into the far post from 21 yards off his left instep in minute 22 to lead 1-0.

It was to be the first and last time Waterhouse would lead as Loxely Thomas calmly stroked home a floating cross from Amaguana that he hit flush with the right foot to equalise after 40 minutes.

Before all this goal-scoring begun both teams traded attacks that Harbour View’s Petrekin and Thomases soft attempts were hurriedly cleared from the goal lines and Palmer’s header went wide but his shot well-handled by goalkeeper Richard McCallum. Lamey responded twice for Waterhouse once tamely to Thompson in goal then released by Gordon drove high and wide.

Captain Palmer’s groin injury was rested at the break as Marcelino Blackburn appeared to rev-up the proceedings and did so immediately in minute 49 when he capped a good move inside the area from Oniel Smith onto the head of Petrekin who laid it in his path to slam home, then ran away dancing to the crowd as is now customary. 2-1 and Harbour View now assuming the lead and game dominance with superior ball possession, tactics and physical fitness.

Oniel “Bigga” Smith quietly took over the midfield with simply accurate passes mixed with the aggressive tackles of Harbour View’s Man-of-the-Match Richard Edwards, skills of Thomas and the high pace and work rate of Blackburn. Smith topped of a good performance by out-thinking McCallum in goal on eighty minutes when King turned his maker skilfully on top of the box then sliding the ball wide to Smith to convert. He however failed to double his goal-scoring feat when four minutes later when Thomas deftly outsmarted the defence to set him up to score but his effort went wide from 15 yards.
