HVFC striker Roland Dean netted the RSPL’s first hat-trick of the season — all with assists from Jermaine Hue — as Harbour View slammed Savannah, 7-0, at home on Wednesday to move six points clear after second-placed Portmore fell 2-1 to Cavalier.

Dean scored in the 19th, 34th and 47th minutes and was supported by John-Ross Edwards (77th and 89th), Hue and (66th) and Kemeel Wolfe (41st). The win carried them to 29 points — six more than Portmore and seven ahead of Boys’ Town.

Dean fired the hosts ahead after latching onto a slick through ball from Hue and shooting past Gavin Barrett. Two minutes later, Hue slipped a similar pass to the speedy striker on the left, but Dean dragged his shot just wide of the upright.

However, he had his second when he collected another pass from Hue atop the box and beat Barrett with a low strike. Minutes before the break, Wolfe capitalised on a poor clearance and scored from inside the area.

Two minutes after the restart, Dean secured his treble, and Harbour View’s fourth, when he bundled home a Hue corner kick after Barrett failed to hold on.

Hue made it 5-0 from a free kick at the edge of the box, despite slipping as he struck the ball, while Edwards sealed the issue with two well-taken strikes in the last 12 minutes.

At Ferdie Neita Park, Cavalier were led by Troyland Williams’ 30th-minute strike. Portmore equalised through Andrew Vanzie, but Cladius Blackburn struck for Cavalier five minutes from time.
