Harbour View Football Club of Jamaica dethroned defending champions, Villa Lions 5 – nil to capture the 7th Annual CPTSA Female Football Tournament championship title, on Sunday night, July 6, at the YASCO Sports Complex.

Jamaicans Peta-Gay Soman, Natasha Douglas, Shanique Mitchell, shot one each, while Morvette Telloch slammed two passed Villa’s custodian Nikisha Samuel.

The Jamaicans ended the tournament with a perfect record of not conceding a goal and winning all 5 games with an overall 27 goals. Awards were presented by President of ABFA, Everton (Batow) Gonzalves and representative of Sponsors, DETTOL, Mark Thomas. Tanesia Vassell was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

    RESULTS, July 4, 2008

    Harbour View marched through the Semifinal on Friday evening, defeating Villa Lions, by 5-0 to advance to the Finals on Saturday in the 7th Annual CPTSA Female Football Tournament at the YASCO Sports Complex.

    Harbour View Football Club of Jamaica with three goals coming from the leagues leading goalscorer, Shakira Duncan with seven goals another from Kimmia Parker and the other from team-mate Natasha Douglas.

    The Female “Stars of the East” has now scored 22 goals without conceding after four games, and look to carry their rich goal-scoring record unscathed throughout the tournament by lifting the trophy after tomorrow’s rest day.


    RESULTS, July 3, 2008

    In the first quarter-final match-up, Thursday evening, July 3, a Tigress defensive blunder, late in the second half, gave the defending champions, Villa Lions, the only goal, to send the Ottos Tigress packing, as the 7th Annual CPTSA Female Football Tournament continued at the YASCO Sports Complex.

    The ball came off team-mate Shonette Simon due to a bunching in the Tigress 18 yards box. Neither team was able to legitimately find the net all evening, despite 12 shots on goal from Ottos Tigress and 8 shots from Villa Lions.

    In the second game, Harbour View Football Club of Jamaica hammered

    5P’s 5­0. Three of the goals came from Kimmia Parker, and tthe other two from team-mate striker, Shakira Duncan. 5P’s only got off 3 shots at goal.

    The Jamaicans will now face Villa Lions in the first semi-final match-up on Friday evening, July 4, at 7:30 p.m. Before that, SAP will take on Wings in their quarter final clash starting at 6:00 p.m.
