Defending champions Barbican kick-started their Sherwin Williams Women’s Premier League season with a 2-0 win over arch-rival Harbour View in the feature encounter of a double-header at the Harbour View Mini-stadium yesterday.

Goals by Chevenese Clarke and Jenine Dennis in the 46th and 78th minutes, respectively, gave Barbican their first win and three points from their second game.

Barbican are second from bottom in Zone A behind leaders Los Perfectos who dispatched Arnett Gardens 5-1 to move to seven points from three games.

Harbour View, who ended with 10 players after goalkeeper Peatria Campbell was red-carded for abusive language in the 54th minute, remained third on four points.

Los Perfectos assumed sole leadership of Zone A after previous leader Trelawny Women rested.

Tashana Campbell grabbed a brace for the Manchester based-Los Perfectos in the 10th and 86th minutes and was ably supported by Simone Honeygan (33rd), Tashieka Gordon (60th) and Schneil Briscoe (76th).

In the curtain-raiser at the Compound, Portmore Strikers came from behind to edge Waterhouse 2-1. Khedin Salmon gave Waterhouse a seventh-minute lead, but Ieasha Mowatt responded in 32nd to level the scores and then found the winner from the penalty spot in the 79th minute.
Portmore, with their third win from as many games, joined Waterhouse on nine points from four games atop the standings in Zone B.
Meanwhile, Santos blanked Olympic Gardens 2-0 to register their first win from three outings and into third spot with three points.
Both Olympic Gardens and Constant Spring bring up the rear as both are without a point.
